Under the Medicare Better Access Scheme, individuals receiving psychological treatment are eligible for a substantial rebate for each session for up to 10 individual sessions per calendar year. Dr Leah A. van Breugel runs a private practice and charges private fees for her services. The fee for an initial assessment and subsequent sessions is $210.00 per session. Bulk-billing services are not available. If you have a MHCP the current rebate (July 2023-2024) is $136.35, leaving an out-of-pocket expense of $73.65.

Full payment of fees is required at the time of service. A $50 deposit is required to secure your first appointment and this will be credited towards the cost of your initial assessment. If you change your mind or are unable to attend the first appointment a full refund will be made if a minimum of 48-hours-notice is provided.

If claiming through private health a GP referral/Mental Health Care Plan is not required, however it is advisable to contact your private health fund for more information regarding your level of cover, benefit, and your out-of-pocket expense based on the above information.

Cancellations

When you make an appointment a full 50-minute time slot is allocated to you. A full 48-hours notice is required if you wish to postpone or cancel an appointment, otherwise, a cancellation fee (50% of the consultation fee) will be charged.
